Arsenal may be able to solve their striker woes by signing Dominic Solanke for £65million this summer.

Mikel Arteta is expected to welcome a flurry of fresh faces to his dressing room this summer to help bridge the gap on last season’s Premier League winners Manchester City. The Spaniard is hoping to bring in another versatile defender, whilst also signing a forward who can provide cover for Bukayo Saka on the right wing.

Acquiring the services of a top-quality striker is also a priority at the Emirates Stadium this summer, having previously opted against signing a No. 9 in favour of Kai Havertz leading the line in north London.

RB Leipzig star Benjamin Sesko has been identified as Arsenal’s top forward target after his sensational campaign in the Bundesliga, but his 14 goals in 31 league appearances means that his performances have not gone unnoticed around Europe.

Chelsea and Newcastle are also in the race to sign Sesko, and Arsenal may therefore have to consider alternative options who will hit the ground running at the club.

Solanke has been linked with a move to Arsenal previously, and The Athletic report that will be available to some for £65m this summer. The striker has a release clause that can only be activated by ‘certain clubs’.

The ex-Liverpool forward scored 19 goals and registered three assists for Bournemouth last season, and his performances saw him tipped to make the move to a bigger club in the Premier League - with Arsenal one of those linked.

Solanke led the line impressively for Andoni Iraola’s side throughout the campaign, holding the ball up well when required but also showing a willingness to run the channels when required – and his performances saw him tipped to break into the England squad for this summer’s Euros.

Tottenham are also in the market for a striker this summer and have shortlisted Solanke as one of their potential targets, along with Brentford’s Ivan Toney and Feyenoord’s Santiago Gimenez among their considerations.

However, without Champions League football on offer, Solanke may be more obliged to head to the red side of north London if both outfits match his release clause. Tottenham also may not even be able to activate the clause given that they did not finish in the top four - seeing it only relates to certain clubs.

Arsenal will be hoping that they do not need to look at alternatives to Sesko though given that he is available for £55m.
