Newcastle United's star midfielder Bruno Guimaraes has declared his contentment at St James' Park amidst swirling rumours of a summer exit due to Financial Fair Play (FFP) constraints.

The Magpies are reportedly among six top-flight English clubs who might be compelled to offload players in the upcoming transfer window to comply with FFP regulations. Guimaraes, after an impressive season under Eddie Howe, is reportedly one of the names being touted for a move.

The Brazilian maestro, 26, has caught the eye of footballing giants such as Manchester City and Arsenal, sparking widespread speculation about his future. Yet, when probed by Brazilian media about his plans, Guimaraes delivered a resolute message to Newcastle's passionate support.

"Look, my future, to be honest, is in God’s hands," he said. "I have a contract with Newcastle, I’m very happy, as I said, I know how much they like me, I know everything I’ve been doing for the club.

"In short, I have a contract, I’m happy. I don’t know what can happen, we know everything about Financial Fair Play, but what I can say is that I feel happy.

"Obviously it’s very nice to have your name linked with big clubs, it shows that I’m doing my job well, but I’m not worried about it at all, as I said, I’m happy at the club. I’m very happy, so let’s see what happens. I’m not in any hurry, I’m happy, and it’s up to God, let’s see what happens."

Guimaraes has been a star in Newcastle's midfield since he joined from Lyon in January 2022, versatile enough to thrive in a deep or advanced role, with the Premier League's top two standing up and paying attention.

And Howe undoubtedly will want to keep hold of such a key figure, despite concerns over their ability to comply with the league's financial rules.

"It goes without saying what my thoughts on the Bruno situation are. We want to keep him, we want to build our team around him and he's an integral part of what we are doing," Howe said before the end of the season.

"Bruno's performances have been top-notch, he's content and focused, looking forward to a summer where we aim to progress the squad further, and he's central to our plans."
