Arsenal's defensive ace Gabriel has openly confessed his desire to join Corinthians, revealing he would make the move "tomorrow" if given the chance.

The Sao Paulo-born centre-back, who has become a stalwart for the Gunners since his transfer from Lille, has expressed his deep affection for the Brazilian giants. Despite being a key figure in Arsenal's robust defence, which was recently hailed as the Premier League's best, Gabriel has not been linked with a move away from London.

Gabriel's football journey began at Avai, yet his heart seems firmly set on Corinthians, where he has been seen cheering from the stands and was even caught on camera using public transport to attend a game last month.

Discussing his passion for Corinthians, Gabriel didn't hold back: "Corinthians, that's since I was born and today I don't think it has to be any different. I still go to Corinthians games by train. It's my dream, I want to play for Corinthians, I want to feel that energy."

When asked about the possibility of playing for them, he said: "It's something to think about. Sometimes I stop and think, 'Do you dream of playing for Corinthians? ' I do. 'When would you play for Corinthians? ' For me, I'd be at Corinthians tomorrow."

He added further: "I hope it doesn't take too long because I want to feel the energy of those fans, who are incredible, as soon as possible."

Gabriel has opened up about his thoughts of leaving Arsenal at the beginning of the season, after losing his spot in the starting lineup. Thomas Partey's move to right-back left Gabriel on the sidelines, before the transfer window closed and he was restored to the team.

A pivotal conversation with manager Mikel Arteta explained the early-season decision. "He (Arteta) spoke to me and obviously explained the reasons behind the decision," Gabriel said..

"Why I should stay but the most important thing was to remain focused and concentrate he knew how important I was to the team, so I'm happy to be back and to be able to help the team in every game. I'm happy to be back in the team and hopefully I can help them moving forward."

Arsenal fans can breathe easy knowing that their defensive core is set to remain intact for the upcoming season. Saliba, Gabriel, and White are all integral to the team's plans, though the club may be scouting for a new left-back.

Meanwhile, second-choice keeper Aaron Ramsdale is rumoured to be looking elsewhere to secure more playing time.
