Karim Adeyemi’s impressive display in the Champions League final certainly will have put him on the radar of top clubs around Europe following claims that Borussia Dortmund are willing to sell the forward this summer.

The Germany international’s blistering pace was an ever-present headache for Dani Carvajal and although he was unable to guide his side to glory at Wembley Stadium, Adeyemi will leave England with his head held high – and potentially with the chance to return this summer.

Manchester United were previously interested in the 22-year-old and attempted to hijack his initial deal from RB Salzburg to Dortmund in 2022, but their approach came too late and the versatile forward had already given his word to the Bundesliga side.

But Adeyemi’s display in the Champions League may have offered the Red Devils encouragement to reignite their interest in the talented prospect.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe is keen to orchestrate a major rebuild of his forward ranks this summer, and acquiring the services of a talented prospect who can be moulded by the United manager – may that be Erik ten Hag or his successor – could be viewed as a great opportunity.

Adeyemi is capable of playing on either wing and through the middle, and he would therefore allow some of United’s fringe stars, such as Antony, to be offloaded without doubts about whether there is suitable cover available.

According to Sky Sports Germany, Dortmund are willing to open negotiations to sell Adeyemi at ‘the right price’.

Premier League clubs, who have remained unnamed at this stage, are said to already be on the tail of Adeyemi in the hope of striking a deal with Dortmund, and it would be no surprise if United were among those monitoring his situation given their long-standing interest.

If United do opt to re-pursue Adeyemi then the opportunity to strike a swap deal for his services will emerge, with Jadon Sancho currently out on loan at Dortmund and hoping to return to the Signal Iduna Park outfit on a permanent basis this summer.

With three goals and one assist in 21 league appearances, Adeyemi is far from the finished product at this stage and may not have the most premium of price tags. However, Dortmund coughed up £33million to secure his services previously and will want to make a fair profit on their initial investment.
