Robbie Blake urges Bolton to sign David Nugent
ROBBIE Blake believes David Nugent would be a major success if Owen Coyle can lure him to Bolton.
Coyle took striker Nugent, 25, to Burnley on loan last summer and has refused to rule out a £2million swoop. Nugent, who has since returned to Portsmouth, is desperate to stay in the top flight.
And Blake, who joined Bolton on a free transfer and scored a penalty in the 1-1 draw at Rochdale on Saturday, feels Nugent would guarantee goals.
Blake said: “Nuge is a great lad and a very good player as well, so he would certainly bring some quality to our squad. If he comes he’d be a good addition.”
Coyle will wrap up a £1.6m deal for Real Madrid defender Marcos Alonso this week. He turned down Benfica to try his luck in the Premier League and Coyle believes left-back Alonso, 19, will prove a bargain.
Coyle said: “He’s a young player making his way but you don’t feature for Real Madrid without having quality.
“I’ve been chasing him for a long time, we’ve put a lot of work into this and hopefully we’ll get the fruits of all this hard work.”
Blake gave Bolton the lead from the spot but Chris O’Grady levelled for Rochdale.
