Chelsea’s dream deadline day involves £65m double transfer and Pochettino clear out
COMMENT: Chelsea are gearing up for what could be a very exciting transfer deadline day.
Mauricio Pochettino refuses to be drawn on Chelsea’s interest in Cole Palmer
Chelsea are preparing for a busy transfer deadline day on Friday as Todd Boehly and co hope to finalise Mauricio Pochettino’s squad for the Premier League season, with comings and goings still expected. The Blues are already the world’s biggest spenders this summer and do not plan to stop, and Express Sport has looked at what would represent a dream final day of the window at Stamford Bridge.
£65m double transfer
Chelsea are targeting two more acquisitions before Friday’s 11.00pm deadline, including Manchester City starlet Cole Palmer. The two sides have reached an agreement of £40million plus a further £5m in add-ons, after the England Under-21 forward completed his Blues medical on Thursday.
They are expected to complete a move for Palmer, who could be joined in London by Brazilian starlet Gabriel Moscardo. The Corinthians midfielder has been the subject of an £18m formal bid from Chelsea according to Fabrizio Romano, though the Brasileirao side are holding out for a larger fee for the 17-year-old.
Chelsea would likely have to increase their offer to at least £20m for the teenager, who would likely spend the remainder of the season back at Corinthians, but could join Palmer as part of a double swoop for Pochettino’s outfit.

Pochettino clear out
In order to balance the books, comply with Financial Fair Play and Premier League regulations, more sales are likely to take place with several stars linked with Chelsea exits. Manchester United opted against taking Marc Cucurella on loan, but either he or Ian Maatsen could still depart to prevent a logjam at left-back.
Chelsea have been keen to offload academy products that represent total profit when sold, while Callum Hudson-Odoi, Trevoh Chalobah and Conor Gallagher could all join those fellow Cobham graduates out of the door - while teenage forward Mason Burstow has also attracted interest from AC Milan according to Di Marzio.
Hudson-Odoi and Chalobah are likelier sales with Fulham and Nottingham Forest interested in the former, while the centre-back had attracted interest from Bayern Munich but talks have since broken down and Chelsea are also braced for a late Tottenham bid for Gallagher - according to The Telegraph.

Surprise incoming?
It would come as a shock to only a few if Boehly did not have a surprise up his sleeve, after taking the transfer market by storm since he and the Clearlake Capital group purchased Chelsea last year.
The Blues left it late in January to sign Enzo Fernandez for a then-British record transfer fee as the midfielder was brought in on deadline day and although no big-name signing has been mooted as of yet - Boehly would surely love to complete a dream deadline day with another addition on top of Palmer and Moscardo.
