Man Utd takeover: Furious fans force megastore to close as Glazers under pressure
Manchester United fans made their feelings about the Glazers known with a protest outside Old Trafford on Tuesday.
Man Utd fans block entrance to Old Trafford Megastore amid protest
Manchester United supporters have once again voiced their anger against the Glazers by forming a human blockade outside the Old Trafford megastore, forcing it to close. Red Devils fans are desperate to see the back of the American billionaire owners, who are yet to make a final decision on selling the club.
The Old Trafford faithful have grown frustrated at the slow progress around a drawn-out takeover saga. Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani and Sir Jim Ratcliffe are still waiting to discover whether their respective offers will be accepted.
Meanwhile, some United fans fear that the Glazers could backtrack on the sale process altogether and stay at Old Trafford. Many did their best to make sure that doesn't happen with a fresh protest on Tuesday, as a crowd came out to block the entrance to the megastore.
The timing was particularly telling as the Red Devils had only just released their brand new strip for the 2023/24 season. In normal circumstances, fans would be lined up outside the club shop to get their hands on the famous red shirt.

But with supporters coming out in numbers, United were forced to respond by temporarily closing the shop. Banners spotted among the fans read 'We want our club back' and 'Don't feed the greed'.
The protest was organised by fan group The 1958, who claimed that sponsors Adidas are also being targeted. The Manchester United Supporters' Trust (MUST) have backed the demonstration with ownership uncertainty threatening to blight manager Erik ten Hag's summer transfer plans.

It has been more than seven months since the Glazers acknowledged that they would consider selling up, but the situation is still unresolved as the window takes shape.
"The overwhelming majority of United fans want to see a conclusion to this protracted sale process with the majority supporting a full sale, at least based on our soundings," wrote MUST on Twitter earlier this week. "Protest planned on Tuesday to make that message clear."
Prominent Qatari banker Sheikh Jassim hopes to acquire 100 per cent of United, while Sir Jim's proposal would see the Glazers remain with the Red Devils in a minority capacity, at least for the next few years.
United are yet to make concrete progress during the summer transfer window, despite registering an interest in the likes of Mason Mount and Declan Rice. Ten Hag could be left to play catch-up later in the summer as rivals continue to put in work behind the scenes.
