Man Utd could offer Inter Milan five stars as Erik ten Hag's transfer plans change focus
Man Utd are reportedly set to offer Inter Milan a player-exchange deal.
Andre Onana linked with Man Utd and Chelsea move
Manchester United could reportedly offer Inter Milan a player-exchange deal to sign No 1 goalkeeper target Andre Onana. Erik ten Hag is supposedly keen to sign a new first-choice shot-stopper to replace David De Gea, whose Old Trafford career is set to end this summer.
Inter reportedly value Onana at £45million but United are keen to drive that price down. They could be boosted by Inter’s apparent interest in a few of the Red Devils’ fringe stars. Express Sport looks at who United could offer.
Harry Maguire
Club captain Maguire has been strongly linked with a departure from United this year. Tottenham, Aston Villa and Newcastle are all rumoured to like the England star.
Maguire lost his place to Raphael Varane early last season and ultimately played only 16 Premier League matches. The 30-year-old wants to keep his England place ahead of Euro 2024 but is not guaranteed game time at United.
An opportunity to play abroad could excite Maguire.

Fred
Fred could make way for at least a few midfield arrivals. Ten Hag is known to want to improve his options in that area, with Chelsea’s Mason Mount one likely signing.
The Brazilian star has been linked with an exit and might have played his last game for United. He would certainly help to drive down the fee for Onana, which has been reported by the Daily Mail.
Facundo Pellistri
Uruguayan outcast Pellistri has impressed in his fleeting appearances in a United shirt. A direct dribbler with an eye for chance-creating passes, the 21-year-old’s failure to play more for Ten Hag has been a subject of curiosity.
Pellistri’s Premier League minutes last season amounted to just 60 minutes across four matches. The likes of Jadon Sancho, Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford, Antony and even Bruno Fernandes are preferred to him in wide areas.
Pellistri could benefit from more regular game time and Inter could be the perfect move for all parties.

Donny van de Beek
There was anticipation that Van De Beek could earn a reprieve at Old Trafford after his former Ajax boss, Ten Hag, was appointed last summer. But the Dutchman’s campaign never really got going and it was ended prematurely by a knee injury suffered in January.
Like Fred, Van De Beek may now leave as part of Ten Hag’s midfield overhaul. Serie A could be the perfect destination for him to rekindle his career.
Anthony Elanga
Elanga is another attacking star who struggled amid United’s array of striking talent. Despite starting and playing a key role in Ten Hag’s first win - the 2-1 triumph over Liverpool - the Swede barely featured in the Premier League last season.
The 21-year-old played just 418 minutes in the top-flight and needs to kickstart his career elsewhere. Inter may be interested in a versatile player who has plenty of potential.
