Roberto Mancini is staying as Manchester City manager
City chairman Khaldoon Al Murarak was quick to give Mancini a ringing endorsement following their disappointing 1-0 defeat by Tottenham on Wednesday.
Khaldoon, right-hand man to City’s billionaire owner Sheikh Mansour, said: “I’m very happy with Roberto and the Shiekh is delighted with the way he has organised the team. I have the highest regard for Roberto as a manager and a person and he is going to do a wonderful job for many years.
“He is a man who has a winning mentality. He wants to win and he wants to achieve things for the club.” City have spent over £200 million in the past two seasons, but Mancini has been promised more funds to mount a renewed bid for Champions league qualification.
Khaldoon said: “Our preparations are already in second gear to give Roberto all the tools that he needs for next season.”
