IAIN Dowie has ordered his Hull flops to restore some pride with a win at Wigan today and show fans they are not a waste of the cash-strapped club’s money.
Iain Dowie has ordered his Hull flops to restore some pride with a win at Wigan
Last weekend’s home defeat by Sunderland condemned them to relegation, but Dowie insists his players have a responsibility to justify a crippling wage bill of almost £40million a year.
Dowie said: “The players are paid big money because they are Premier League footballers, so it is important we put a smile back on supporters’ faces and go out on a bang.”
Dowie admits he has to take some of the blame for relegation despite being in charge for only seven matches since succeeding Phil Brown.
He said: “I have to take part responsibility. We have missed some big players but we have come up short and been found wanting in the final third.”
