World Cup commentator Ally McCoist has been called a “traitor” by his talkSPORT colleague Alex Crook after scoring six goals against the radio station’s football team in Qatar, as they lost 10-6 in a rematch to ITV. Several big names were in attendance, including Roy Keane, Gary Neville and Karen Carney, as the broadcaster defeated talkSPORT for the second time in a week.
Though not everyone was impressed as McCoist, who has been providing commentary for ITV in Qatar and also appeared on the talkSPORT radio shows, turned up to play alongside Keane, Neville and Carney. Crook, a presenter at the radio station, took to social media to call out McCoist for being a traitor.
“The rematch between @itvfootball and @talkSPORT ended in a 10-6 defeat for us. Keane outstanding again,” Crook tweeted as he captioned a photo of him alongside a smiling McCoist. “This traitor weighed in with SIX!”

Commentator Nigel Adderley explained the game in more depth as he was full of praise for the Scottish icon. “It was a really good game again and I have to say that Roy Keane, Gary Neville, Karen Carney were all playing and they were all tremendous to deal with,” he said.
“But the star player once again is a talkSPORT player, Ally McCoist… playing for ITV. It was a 10-6 victory for ITV and Ally scored six of them and we just could not get near him, it’s incredible, he barely moves but he’s always in space.”

Another great afternoon playing the ITV All-Stars. 10-6 (McCoist 6) this time. Once again Keane, Neville and Co were superb on and off the field @talkSPORT #TSWorldCuppic.twitter.com/LIiOPEYcVv
Host Paul Hawksbee claimed that McCoist's performance “sounds like Messi” with the Paris Saint-Germain star renowned at the World Cup for walking leisurely across the pitch before providing match-winning moments.
Adderley claimed that Keane and Neville “played well within themselves” but it was a match that many will remember. “Players like Roy Keane and Gary Neville can just take the game away from you but I think they played well within themselves,” he added.
“I think they enjoy a run-out, enjoy getting out of the hotel and they were tremendous with us before, during and after the game. It’s been a fantastic experience and I think for some of the younger lads to play on the same pitch as Roy Keane and Gary Neville, and for all of us it’s just a massive, massive honour and something we’ll remember from this World Cup for a long, long time.”
