Aston Villa's Fabian Delph may miss the rest of the season after a freak injury in training
Delph, 19 next month, ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament on Saturday and will have his knee reconstructed, almost certainly having to write off at least half of next season. O’Neill has used former Leeds star Delph sparingly after his arrival last summer, giving him only four Premier League starts.
James Milner, meanwhile, is adamant Villa can still snatch fourth place, despite being six points adrift of Tottenham with four games left.
He said: “We’re still in there but we’re going to need a bit of help to finish where we want to.
“There are always ups and downs and teams put runs together, but I don’t see why we cannot finish fourth. We’re still in the hunt.”
