The draw for the third round of the FA Cup threw up a number of exciting ties on Monday evening, with Manchester City set to face Chelsea at home in what will arguably be the pick of the bunch. Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool also found out their opponents for the next round, every Premier League and Championship club having entered the draw at this stage of the competition.
United will face a tricky test to get into the fourth round of this year's competition, with Everton set to travel to Old Trafford in the hopes of upsetting the odds in an intriguing all-Premier League tie. Arsenal, meanwhile, will face a trip to third-tier Oxford United as they look to get their FA Cup campaign off to a promising start at the Kassam Stadium.
Liverpool, who won last year's edition of the tournament, will get their defence underway against Wolves at home while Tottenham will host Portsmouth in another exciting match-up. A few potential giant-killings could also be on the cards, with non-league Chesterfield set to face West Bromwich Albion and Leicester City having been drawn against either Dagenham and Redbridge or Gillingham, who will be involved in a second-round replay in early December.
The fixtures are set to be played out across the weekend of January 7, although some fixtures will be rescheduled when the televised games are selected later this week.
