England's 26-man World Cup squad in full
England have announced their official squad numbers for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar after Gareth Southgate's 26-man group reunited at St. George's Park on Monday. The Three Lions will start their campaign in seven days, and the squad numbers could indicate who is set to play a prominent role in the Middle East.
It will come as no surprise that the England squad numbers run from one to 26. Jordan Pickford was expected to be Southgate's first-choice goalkeeper in Qatar, and his retention of the No 1 shirt is a telling indicator that he will continue with that responsibility.
Harry Maguire keeping the No 6 shirt could suggest Southgate will keep faith in him as a starter, despite losing his spot at Manchester United. While there could also be some surprise that Jack Grealish, Jordan Henderson and Marcus Rashford will be Nos 7, 8 and 11, respectively.
Ben White, Callum Wilson, James Maddison and Conor Gallagher were expected to be squad players rather than certain starters. And their numbers falling in the 20s could confirm that, although Phil Foden is No 20 and Jude Bellingham No 23.
