Diogo Dalot positive about Man United's new manager in July
Manchester United have two right-back transfer targets in Max Aarons and Jeremie Frimpong, according to reports. Diogo Dalot has been sensational for the Red Devils this season but Erik ten Hag wants somebody to keep the Portugal international on his toes, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka deemed not good enough. And it’ll be interesting to see the Glazers let the Dutchman splash the cash in January.
Manchester United have started to tick along nicely under Ten Hag, who has guided his side to fifth in the Premier League table after a rocky start to the season.
However, the Dutchman knows more is required if his side are to challenge the likes of Manchester City and Arsenal for the league title this term.
Wan-Bissaka has made just one appearance for the club so far this season, with injuries hampering him at Old Trafford, and there’s a sense he’ll be cut loose when the transfer window reopens in January.
According to The Sun, Aarons and Frimpong are two of the players Ten Hag is eyeing as he seeks a potential upgrade.
Aarons was linked with United back in the summer, shortly after Norwich City’s relegation to the Championship, and he remains a regular under Dean Smith at Carrow Road.

It’s stated the Canaries value the full-back at £10million, a relatively-affordable amount given the youngster’s talent and potential.
Aarons has previously been tracked by the likes of Arsenal, Bayern Munich and Roma and Norwich are unlikely to stand in his way if he pushes to leave for a bigger club.
Another team who wanted the 22-year-old, who has made 19 league appearances so far this season, was Borussia Monchengladbach.
The Bundesliga side are currently managed by Daniel Farke, who previously bossed Aarons at Norwich.
But United, as one of the biggest clubs in the whole of world football, will fancy their chances of winning a battle if both teams decide to slug it out.
Aarons isn’t the only player United are seemingly interested in, either, with Frimpong also in their sights.
The 21-year-old is a product of Manchester City’s academy and has impressed at the likes of Celtic and Bayer Leverkusen since leaving the Etihad Stadium behind.
Leverkusen are having a dismal campaign, having won just two of their opening 12 matches, and they may have no choice but to let Frimpong go should United come calling.
It’ll be curious to see if the Red Devils do land a new right-back in the New Year, especially given their mixed record when it comes to January recruits.
Patrice Evra and Nemanja Vidic both joined in 2006 and went on to become club legends, winning a combined 10 Premier League titles when Sir Alex Ferguson was manager.

“But I have to mention a club as Manchester United need two good full-backs because we have a lot of games to cover."
Wan-Bissaka cost United a huge £50m back in 2019, a fee that made him their most-expensive full-back signing of all time.
Crystal Palace have been linked with their former defender, though it’s unclear if they’ll be able to broker a deal in January.
Dalot, meanwhile, is expected to feature when United lock horns with Real Sociedad on Thursday night (5.45pm).
The Red Devils must win by two clear goals in Spain to ensure they top their group, having won four of their five Europa League games so far this term.
