Everton working hard to improve team in January – Rafael Benitez
Everton re-appointing Roberto Martinez as manager would be "a joke", according to former Toffees striker Victor Anichebe. Martinez is the favourite to land the Everton job following the sacking of Rafa Benitez on Sunday. The Spaniard is currently the manager of Belgium, a role he has held for the last five-and-a-half years.

Appearing on Sky Sports News on Monday, Anichebe gave a stinging view on reports linking Martinez with Everton again.
He said: "I've heard the likes of Martinez and people like this - is that some kind of joke? That you'd bring Martinez back to the club. It's actually quite funny to think of it."
Anichebe was then asked to elaborate on his opinion of Martinez.
And he claimed it would be as toxic at Everton as it was under the recently sacked Benitez.

"It's an absolute joke to even think of it. He plays good football but it's not Everton."
