Darren Ferguson has had a winning streak since his return to Peterborough
DARREN Ferguson enjoyed a winning return to Peterborough thanks to Neil Mellor’s first-half winner.
Darren Ferguson left Posh in November before replacing Alan Irvine at Preston earlier this month.
And victory was especially sweet after Peterborough chairman Darragh MacAnthony had accused him of tapping up Posh players and taking them out for a drinking session last month. Ferguson said: “The comments on tapping up have no foundation to them whatsoever.
“And the players invited me out for a drink. So what?”
Preston could have won by more after Mellor fired home in the 34th minute as he and Richard Chaplow should have added to the tally.
