Newcastle chief Amanda Staveley could sign TEN players as January transfer window open
NEWCASTLE are desperate to bolster their forces in the January transfer window.
Ralf Rangnick reviews Newcastle draw
Newcastle chief Amanda Staveley has her work cut out in the January transfer window. Eddie Howe is determined to beat the drop but reinforcements are a must with several stars linked with a move.
Newcastle could make as many as 10 transfers in the next 30 days after the January window opened this morning.
The Magpies are in dire need of reinforcements as they look to stave off relegation from the Premier League.
Eddie Howe has taken over but has so far only overseen one league win and they are in danger of being cut adrift from the rest of the division.
However, with the financial power of the Saudi state behind him, the former Bournemouth boss along with club chief Staveley have some big transfers in mind.
So, who could make the move up Toon this winter?
Jesse Lingard
Reports continue to emerge that the Manchester United outcast is unhappy at the club with his ostracisation continuing under Ralf Rangnick.
Lingard’s contract is out at the end of the season but he could leave in January so the Red Devils garner some cash.
Odion Ighalo
Newcastle are desperate for firepower and see Ighalo as an ideal short-term acquisition.
The Nigeria international signed for United in similar circumstances in January 2020 while the Al-Shabbab striker is reportedly keen on a return to the Premier League.
James Tarkowski
Much like Lingard, Tarkwoski is out of contract at the end of the season and is looking to leave Burnley and Newcastle are the favourites for his signature.
Howe has made strengthening his defence a priority after shipping more goals than everyone except Norwich in the Premier League and the Englishman would bulk up his backline.
Anthony Martial
The Frenchman has told United that he wants to leave and the club have already rejected a loan from Sevilla after they only offered to pay half of his wages.
Newcastle could hijack the deal by giving the Red Devils what they want while also supplying Martial the first-team football he craves.
Kieran Trippier
Trippier is almost certain to leave Atletico, whether that is in January or in the summer remains to be seen, but Newcastle are definitely interested.
The England international would add much-needed experience and steel to the Magpies defence while his set-pieces are also a dangerous weapon.
Ross Barkley
Despite Chelsea’s injury crisis, Barkley has still failed to get a look-in and a move away could be in everyone’s interest in January.
Everton are reportedly keen on bringing him back but the Englishman could decide to leave for Newcastle to bolster their midfield.
Nathan Ake
Another to be left largely on the sidelines, Ake has hardly lit up the Etihad since moving there from Bournemouth.
Howe knows all about the Netherlands international and could call upon the defender to help strengthen his backline.
Dele Alli
Tottenham are reportedly ready to let ALli leave on loan after falling down the pecking order in north London.
Newcastle would be the perfect place for the Englishman to pick up his career and look to get back into the international set-up.
Aaron Ramsey
It has not gone great for the Welshman in Turin with Juventus reportedly desperate to get the midfielder off their wage bill.
However, finding a suitor to match his salary has proved difficult but now Newcastle could throw Ramsey a lifeline.
Donny van de Beek
Despite a change in management, Van de Beek’s fortunes have not changed and a January exit looks almost certain.
Newcastle have registered an interest before so an easy switch could be on the cards as the Dutchman looks to get his career back in track.
