Roy Keane says he will ‘NEVER forgive’ Sir Alex Ferguson
Manchester United icon Sir Alex Ferguson is set to turn 80 on New Year’s Eve. The Scot had a glittering spell at Old Trafford, winning 13 league titles and two Champions League crowns during his time in the dugout. Just imagine if he was still in charge today…
Ferguson guided United to the title in 2013, beating Roberto Mancini’s Manchester City to claim the prize.
However, he then emotionally decided to leave the Red Devils in order to retire and spend more time with his wife, Cathy.
In the years since, United have toiled.
David Moyes, Louis van Gaal, Jose Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer have all come and gone without getting anywhere near matching the achievements of their iconic predecessor.
They’ve tried numerous systems and a variety of different approaches but, these days, Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea are the teams to beat.
So let’s have a little fun. What if Ferguson was in charge today, with the current members of the squad?

Therefore, it’s possible he’d go with Diogo Dalot at right-back - with the Portugal international far superior to Aaron Wan-Bissaka when it comes to bombing forward.
Luke Shaw would then start at left-back, while it’s possible he’d go for the style and substance of Raphael Varane and Harry Maguire at the back.
In order to play two in midfield, Bruno Fernandes would maybe moved further back.
While he’s a No 10, he did play as a No 8 for Sporting Lisbon on occasions and, given his talent, would perhaps be able to influence matches.

Ferguson always knew he needed a tough tackler alongside Paul Scholes or Michael Carrick and that’s why Scott McTominay, as an academy graduate, would potentially be Fernandes’ partner in crime.
Jadon Sancho would fit in on the right wing, with Marcus Rashford on the left over Anthony Martial.
Both Sancho and Rashford have had difficult campaigns so far yet the talent is there, it merely needs harnessing in the right way.
Then, up top, Ferguson could go with a front two consisting of Cristiano Ronaldo and Mason Greenwood.
Ferguson helped to shape Ronaldo into the superstar he is today, with the duo winning three Premier League titles in a row together.

The Scot was also overheard criticising Solskjaer’s decision to drop Ronaldo for a 1-1 draw with Everton earlier in the season.
So he, out of all the players the club have, would probably be the single asset guaranteed to start most matches.
While Edinson Cavani is a good asset for United, Ferguson would probably do everything to get the best from Greenwood.
At the age of 20, and with 122 appearances already under his belt, the youngster is their big hope for the future.
And a front two of Ronaldo and Greenwood, with Ferguson in charge and Sancho and Rashford on the flanks, would likely strike fear into the club’s Premier League rivals.
