Liverpool hero Steve McManaman has revealed the latest he has heard on Mohamed Salah's future at Anfield. Salah's contract at Liverpool is currently set to expire in the summer of 2023. The Egyptian will be turning 31 that summer but his form has shown no sign of dwindling as of yet.

“It all depends on the finances: how much he wants and how much Liverpool are prepared to pay.
“We know that they don’t pay the most money. They certainly pay a lot of money across the board, but we know that they don’t pay a huge amount of money and can’t challenge the likes of Paris Saint-Germain or Real Madrid in paying individuals.
“So, we’ll wait and see how it pans out. All the talk that I’ve heard is that he wants to stay and Liverpool wants him to stay.
“It’s just about getting the right figure, agreeing the right figure, and moving forward.”

La Liga giants Real Madrid and Barcelona have both been linked with a move for Salah.
He spoke to Spanish publication Marca earlier this year and refused to rule out a move to Spain in the future.
“I hope to be able to play for many more years," he said.
“Why not? No one knows what’s going to happen in the future, so… maybe one day [I will play in Spain], yes.”

However, in a separate interview, Salah has also stated he would like to stay at Liverpool for the remainder of his career if possible.
Salah said: "If you ask me, I would love to stay until the last day of my football career, but I can't say much about that - it's not in my hands.
"It depends on what the club want, not on me. At the moment I can't see myself ever playing against Liverpool. That would make me sad. It's hard, I don't want to talk about it, but it would make me really sad."
