Barcelona boss Xavi has reportedly given the green light to Dani Alves' sensational return to the club, having left for Juventus five years ago. The duo spent seven years as team-mates at the Camp Nou, and after the midfielder was recently appointed as manager, Alves could be in line for an emotional reunion.

Barca want to see the deal through as soon as possible so that he can be swiftly integrated into their first-team plans.
At 38-years-old, Alves may not have too many more years left at the top level, but he would bring a significant amount of experience both in the dressing room and on the pitch.
During his first spell with the club, he amassed an enviable silverware collection including three Champions Leagues and six La Liga titles.
Since leaving, he has had spells with Juventus, PSG and finally Sao Paulo, where his contract was terminated in September over an ongoing dispute.

Since leaving, the Brazilian has been open about his desire to return to the Camp Nou and help Xavi steer the club back towards winning ways.
"I came out saying that when Barca needed me and loved me I would be at their disposal regardless of where I was," he said.
"The affection, love and respect that I have for this home is too much. You just need to call me."
Given his status as a free agent and Barca's squad vacancy, the player would not have to wait until January to see first-team action.

Oscar Mingueza has been the preferred option at right-back in recent weeks, despite his preference to play in the centre of defence.
With Barca in need, Alves could be in line to feature against Espanyol next time they take to the field, with Xavi and the club's hierarchy keen to see the move through as soon as possible.
