Lee Clark favourite to succeed Coyle
FORMER Newcastle midfielder Lee Clark is the top candidate to succeed Owen Coyle at Burnley as the club look to experiment yet again with a relatively untried young talent.
Clark has only been at League One side Huddersfield for just over a year but, in his first full season, he has turned the team into one of the promotion contenders.
His brand of open, attacking football has interested Burnley chairman Barry Kilby, who is looking to make an appointment ahead of Saturday’s trip to Manchester United. Clark said: “I can’t really make any comment because there’s nothing to comment on. I have had no contact with Burnley and my focus is on preparing the side for Saturday’s game with Southend and the game against Bristol Rovers.”
Youth team coach Martin Dobson is in temporary charge after Steve Davis followed Owen Coyle to Bolton. Leeds’ Simon Grayson has already ruled himself out.
