Cristiano Ronaldo’s first goal on Man Utd return in pictures
Cristiano Ronaldo will be the downfall of Manchester United this season, according to Gabriel Agbonlahor. The Portugal international struck a dramatic late winner as Atalanta were beaten in Wednesday’s Champions League tie. But, despite that, some pundits within the game have doubts.

“People got carried away. Ronaldo was awful for Juventus last season.
“This season for Man United, he’s not scored many great goals. The one against Newcastle was the goalkeeper’s fault, it went through his legs. The Villareal one wasn’t anything special.
“If you look at Man United, if I’m a Man United fan I want to see Greenwood down the middle, I want Rashford on the left and I want Sancho on the right, he’s better on the right.
“That’s my front three. In behind them, I want Pogba, Fernandes and Fred or McTominay.
“Ronaldo doesn’t fit into the way that Manchester United want to play.
“The problem is, because of his profile and how good of a player he was, everyone feels like they’ve got to pass to him.

“I watched Atalanta a few weeks ago against AC Milan in Serie A and they got battered. Battered at their place by AC Milan.
“This is Manchester United, look at their squad list.
“They should be smashing Atalanta. Not, ‘oh, we came back and won 3-2 it’s amazing, the Manchester United way’.
“It should have been 3-0 to Manchester United by half-time. They can’t defend.
“Maguire is not playing his best football at the moment. He just looks lost as a defender.
“David de Gea kept them in the game with his saves. He’s been outstanding, by the way.”

Agbonlahor wasn’t the only person to raise concerns over United, with Paul Scholes warning they’ll be hammered by Liverpool if they play like that on Sunday.
"You celebrate every win but the first half really worried me," Scholes told BT Sport.
"People are going to say I’m miserable, and maybe I’m going to be slagged off by United fans, but I looked at that game thinking about the Liverpool game.
"That first half, United had two midfielders playing on their own and if they do that against Liverpool and City they’ll be four down by half-time.
"Yes, it’s great seeing the excitement and them attacking. It’s brilliant, but that first half has stuck with me.
“They’ve come back with great spirit but they conceded so many chances, and if you’re playing against quality players there’s no way you can win that game."
