Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo has been urged by his mother to return to Sporting Lisbon. The Portuguese icon sealed a remarkable return to Old Trafford this summer after leaving Juventus.
But there had been talk that the 36-year-old was set to return to Sporting- the club where he began his career.
That move failed to materialise this summer, with Ronaldo instead penning a two-year deal with United.
But Ronaldo's mother, Dolores Aveiro, has revealed she is still trying to tempt her son to return to Portugal before he calls time on a magical career.
"If it were my choice, he would already be here. He likes to watch Sporting games. I've already told him: 'Son, before I die, I want to see you return to Sporting'. He says: 'Let's see': But if it can't be him, then Cristianinho!"

Sir Alex Ferguson plucked Ronaldo from Portugal as a teenager in £12.24million deal, with Ronaldo elevating himself to superstardom during his six years under the Scot.
He racked up 118 goals in 292 games before a world-record transfer to Real Madrid in 2009.
It hasn't taken long for Ronaldo to add to those 118 goals from his previous spell, with the veteran making an electric start since his return to Old Trafford after 12 years away.
The Portugal star grabbed a brace on his second United debut in the 4-1 win over Newcastle earlier this month and has followed that up with goals against Young Boys and West Ham - taking his tally to four goals in just three games.
United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer claimed earlier this month that Ronaldo's return had helped revitalise the club and the fanbase - a verdict that was reaffirmed by former United star Gary Neville.
“The atmosphere around the club has been electric," said Solskjaer after Ronaldo's goalscoring return against Newcastle earlier this month.
"The supporters have really enjoyed the last 10 days or so since he signed. There were loads of expectations on the team and him and he’s delivered.
“He does what he does. He lifts everyone and gets everyone around the place so focused. He puts demands on himself which then will put demands on his teammates and on us. That’s why he has done so much in his career and been so disciplined.”
