Dan James’ Manchester United career is at an end, just two years since he moved to Old Trafford from Swansea City. It has not always been an enjoyable stay for the Welshman, who frequently became the subject of social media pile-ons whenever United struggled.

But that was arguably as good as it got for James in his United career, with his second goal of August the first point where fans began to direct their ire at him.
He brilliantly curled in an 89th minute equaliser against Crystal Palace, but rather than running back to the halfway line in search of a winner, he opted to celebrate by posing in front of the Stretford End.
After Palace netted a late winner, United fans blasted James for seemingly being happy with just a point.
Things got no better for the Welshman as he ended the season without scoring any more goals, well behind Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and even Mason Greenwood.

“I looked back at loads of old clips of me being me and then looked at my new clips, and I recognised that I wasn’t doing it compared to when I had been bought from Swansea. It was a reality check for me,” he told United’s club podcast.
It looked as though his third campaign at Old Trafford could be an improvement, starting two of their opening three league games.
But the signings of Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho mean that his playing opportunities will be limited.
That has seen him depart for Leeds and curiously only Cristiano Ronaldo, Romelu Lukaku and Angel di Maria have left United for higher fees than what the Whites have paid for the 23-year-old.
