Tottenham have been warned Dayot Upamecano's impending exit from RB Leipzig in the summer could hamper their own efforts to sign Marcel Sabitzer. Jose Mourinho admitted earlier this week that he doesn't expect any business to happen before the January window closes on Monday.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that Sabitzer is a long-term target for Tottenham, dating back to Mauricio Pochettino's time in charge.
Leipzig are set for a battle on their hands this summer to keep their biggest stars, after losing Timo Werner last summer.
Upamecano was also heavily linked with a move away before he signed a new contract, although his extension included a cheaper release clause set at a reported £40million.
Romano states that Leipzig are under the impressing that Upamecano will almost certainly leave with both Liverpool and Manchester United heavily linked, but they may not be willing to let Sabitzer go in the same summer.
“Yes, Sabitzer is a player that Tottenham appreciate, they have been scouting him for two years, so they like the player,” Romano said on Tottenham Fan Chris Cowlin’sYouTube Channel.
“I would say that it’s not easy to negotiate with Leipzig because they know they will be selling Upamecano in the summer, so they will make money with Upamecano and it won’t be easy to sign in the same summer also Sabitzer.
“But for sure, a lot of clubs are interested, Tottenham are among these clubs just because Jose likes these kind of players, he has quality, he’s also a fighter, he’s running, he’s not just a quality, but he’s really like ready for Premier League football."
While incomings have been off the radar for Tottenham this month, a number of players have left on loan.

Malachi Fagan-Walcott became the sixth Spurs star to leave, joining Scottish Championship side Dundee for the remainder of the season.
And it appears as though Danny Rose's time at Tottenham is set to come to an end with reports suggested Tottenham have reached an agreement with Trabzonspor to sign the full-back.
It has been claimed that the Turkish side are set to sign Rose on a three-and-a-half-year deal.
Rose was frozen out by Mourinho when the Portuguese coach first took charge and Sergio Reguilon's arrival last summer pushed him further down the pecking order.
He was expected to leave before the start of the season but, after failing to find a new club, he was subsequently left out of Tottenham's Premier League and Europa League squads.
