Chelsea: Lampard comes out fighting as pressure grows
Chelsea are reportedly furious with Frank Lampard in the wake of their 2-0 Premier League defeat to Leicester on Tuesday night. Goals from Wilfred Ndidi and James Maddison consigned the Blues to a sixth loss of the campaign at the King Power Stadium. And links to Thomas Tuchel, Massimiliano Allegri and Ralph Hasenhuttl are starting to intensify.
Chelsea went into the season expected to challenge for the Premier League title having recruited the likes of Timo Werner, Kai Havertz, Hakim Ziyech and Ben Chilwell during the summer transfer window.
However, the Blues have endured a difficult campaign so far.
Things stooped to a new low on Tuesday night with Lampard’s side slipping to defeat against Leicester, who are starting to emerge as title contenders.
Ndidi opened the scoring after just six minutes, while Maddison found the net shortly before the half time interval.
It’s been widely claimed that Chelsea will stand by Lampard in the wake of the defeat against Leicester, determined not to sack a club legend knowing how fans could react.

He was sacked by PSG last month, however, after allowing the Ligue 1 giants to drift into a title race - with Mauricio Pochettino since appointed his successor.
Tuchel previously held talks with the Chelsea hierarchy back in 2018 but, after choosing to head to PSG instead, the Blues ended up swooping for Maurizio Sarri.
Allegri is another contender for the job, having been out of work since leaving Juventus back in 2019.
And Hasenhuttl has his admirers at Stamford Bridge having worked wonders at Southampton, helping them to ninth in the table.
Chelsea know it will be difficult to part ways with Lampard, who is widely considered one of the best-ever players to feature for the club.
