Man City: Darke says Foden’s ‘the heir’ to David Silva
Manchester United legend Gary Neville was left in awe of Manchester City star Phil Foden against Chelsea today. Foden started on the left for City at Stamford Bridge and produced a fine performance for Pep Guardiola's side. City raced into a 3-0 lead before half time in west London, with the England international scoring the second goal.
Foden provided the assist for Ilkay Gundogan's fine opener on 18 minutes.
And just three minutes later the 20-year-old had a goal of his own, sweeping home a Kevin De Bruyne cross after a well-worked move.
It was before City's third goal where Neville, on co-commentary duty for Sky Sports, was shocked by Foden after he won a battle of strength with Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma.
Neville said: "Phil Foden didn't just outmuscle Zouma there did he? Did he? He couldn't have done. He has done."

Man City news: Gary Neville and Marc Overmars had some good battles (Image: GETTY)
"You don't see Azpilicueta done for pace on the outside and Foden's just done him again."
Former Holland winger Overmars helped Arsenal win the double in the 1997/98 season, playing a big role in the Gunners overcoming a 12-point deficit to beat Neville's United to the title.
And last year, Neville named the former winger as the toughest opponent he faced in a match.
Neville tweeted in May 2020: "Overmars, Charity Shield. [United centre-back] Jaap’s (Stam) first game as well."
