Man Utd: Neville pops champagne as Red Devils go joint-top
Manchester United star Paul Pogba was rightly awarded a penalty in Friday's 2-1 win over Aston Villa, according to Red Devils legend Phil Neville. Pogba was adjudged by referee Michael Oliver to have been fouled by Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz with the score at 1-1 at Old Trafford. Bruno Fernandes scored the resulting spot-kick to take United to level on points with leaders Liverpool at the top of the Premier League table.

Manchester United news: Paul Pogba is still Man Utd's record signing (Image: EXPRESS)
"He's unlucky, he's unlucky because he's trying to get in front of him.
"You see there, his arms are trying to get across him, so big Paul Pogba. Just a little clip there, unlucky but it was a penalty.
Former United striker Michael Owen agreed with Neville that the penalty decision was correct.
Owen said: "I think it was a penalty. You know me, I'm not quite sure on a lot of these touches and people going down easily this season, but I thought that was enough for a penalty."
However, Villa boss Smith says VAR should have at least advised Oliver to review the incident on the pitchside monitor.
