Man Utd: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer previews Southampton trip
Manchester United have the squad capable of forging a Premier League title challenge this season, according to Arsenal legend Ian Wright. United are 12th in the table, having picked up 13 points from their opening eight games of the campaign. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side have been in fine form away from Old Trafford and head to in-form Southampton on Sunday (2pm).
United have not won the Premier League since the retirement of legendary former manager Sir Alex Ferguson in 2013.
Reigning champions Liverpool, Manchester City, Tottenham, Chelsea and Leicester are all ahead of the Red Devils in the odds for this season's title.
But Wright says there is no way Solskjaer's team should be ruled out of an open race for top spot.
"I feel all those teams, Chelsea, Tottenham especially, Man United if they can get on a run, get it really going," Wright said on the Kelly & Wrighty Show.

"Still, we have a very good away record and I think we are up there as well since the turn of January when we had some ins and outs, transfers, I think that was a big turning point for us.
"Since then, we've pushed up the table and, depending on how many games you look back at, I think we're getting that consistency.
"Of course, we know that this is a nice challenge and a good test for the team now to see if we've really learned our lessons from the games we played against them last season.”
