Tottenham star Gareth Bale has called on fans to give him time to settle back into life in north London after making his second full debut for Spurs in the Europa League. Bale's first game back would have been one for him to forget after Tottenham blundered a three-goal lead against West Ham as well as missing a golden opportunity to win the game.
Jose Mourinho named Bale in the starting line-up next time out in the Europa League as he popped up with an assist.
Bale's arrival back at Tottenham has been a long time coming with Daniel Levy having tried in previous years to sign the Wales international.
After another disappointing campaign at Real Madrid though, Bale made it clear that he wanted to leave and that opened the door to a return to Tottenham.
It's a move that went down well with Tottenham fans with many expecting him to repeat the success of his first stint at the club.
“It’s just another game towards the process of getting fitter, sharper, quicker.
“I just enjoyed being out there playing football — that’s what makes me happy.
“It was a professional performance.
“These games can be difficult, if you don’t take them seriously, but we took it very seriously.”
Jose Mourinho has long been a fan of Bale and will be key to Bale's development.
