Man Utd boss Solskjaer has Cavani theory regarding Rashford, Martial and Greenwood
Manchester United are set to sign Edinson Cavani today.
Man Utd: Edinson Cavani transfer is a ‘win-win’ says expert
Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer believes Edinson Cavani can become a mentor to Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood ahead of his loan move to Old Trafford.
Cavani is set to fly to Manchester today to finalise his move to United.
The veteran striker has been without a club since the end of last season, having opted against extending his Paris Saint-Germain contract.
United have been after a new centre-back since selling Romelu Lukaku to Inter Milan late in last summer’s transfer window, with only Odion Ighalo coming in on a loan deal to paper over the cracks in the squad.
The Nigerian did well in his opening few games for the club, but hasn’t found the net since the quarter-finals of the FA Cup in June.

Martial has shone since taking over as the club’s leading striker, but Solskjear appears determined to provide him with some tougher competition for his starting spot in the team.
Negotiations for Cavani were concluded on Saturday, with the Uruguayan set to fly to Manchester today for his medical.
And according to The Mirror, Solskjaer believes the new signing will act as a mentor to Martial, Greenwood and Rashford.
Cavani is set to put pen to paper on a one-year £220,000-per-week deal, with the club holding an option for a second year extension.

Solskjaer is said to be delighted with the deal due to Cavani’s goalscoring record throughout Europe.
The 33-year-old truly made a name for himself in Europe when he was at Napoli, scoring 104 goals in 138 games for the Italians.
He then signed for PSG in a £55million deal, and went on to become the club’s all-time leading scorer with 200 goals in 301 games.
United are keen to follow up the signing of Cavani by finally sealing a deal to sign Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund.

The Red Devils have been told the same thing throughout the window – that only a bid of £108m will be enough.
And with time running out, they are facing the prospect of missing out unless they stump up the cash.
United could also miss out on Alex Telles, their top target for the left-back position – until January at the least.
The club has been unable to agree a fee with Porto for the defender, and could wait until January to sign a pre-contract agreement to sign him for free next summer.
