Chelsea will take on Barnsley at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday in the third round of the Carabao Cup. The clash will be the Blues first fixture of the season, as Frank Lampard’s side entered the competition in the third round after qualifying for the UEFA Champions League, while Gerhard Struber’s men overcame both Nottingham Forest and Middlesbrough to secure their place in the third round.
The squads haven’t face each other in more than a decade, since 2008, when a goal from Kayode Odejayi goal secured Barnsley a place in the FA Cup semi-final.
Whoever wins Wednesday night’s fixture will go on to face either Tottenham Hotspur or Leyton Orient in the fourth round.
Fourth round ties will be played the week commencing September 28.

Chelsea vs Barnsley will take place on September 23 , with kick off at 7.45pm.
Unfortunately for fans, the clash has not been scheduled for TV coverage.
Instead on Wednesday, Sky Sports will be showing the Fleetwood Town vs Everton match at 7.45pm.
