Arsenal: Mikel Arteta says he’s ‘positive’ about the future
Arsenal will struggle next season unless they go out and spend £150million on new players, because they currently don’t have the strength in depth to challenge for the Premier League title. That’s the belief of ESPN pundit Craig Burley.

But Burley believes that they need to continue spending to improve their options from the bench, as they won’t be able to deal with the volume of games next season and still grind out results.
Speaking to ESPN FC, he discussed the challenges facing Arsenal next season, as they’ll be competing in the Europa League as well as the Premier League.
The former Chelsea player admitted that Arteta’s style of management has already had a strong impact on the club, and he has dealt with the uncertainty over Mesut Ozil and Matteo Guendouzi well.
He also discussed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s contract extension, and said it would benefit Arteta if that was sorted out soon.

“He’s got a way he wants to play. The Aubameyang story is big for him, and that could still unravel.
“I see them being better and more consistent, but not consistent enough over 38 games with the squad they currently have.
“Unless they go out and splurge £100m or £150m before the October shut-off, I just don’t think they’ve got enough.
“In terms of the cup, they were great. But with the league, going away from home and churning results out, playing Tuesday and Saturday, two or three games a week, I don’t think they’re ready for that yet."
