Arteta spent three years learning from Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola before being given his chance at managing Arsenal, 18 months after he was snubbed in favour of Unai Emery.
The Spanish head coach suffered a blow in February when Arsenal crashed out of the Europa League in the last 32 and they are 40 points behind Premier League champions Liverpool.
But Arteta has been able to lift the mood around the Emirates and improve performances.
And that was illustrated in this past week as Arsenal recorded victories over Liverpool and City.

The scalps of Jurgen Klopp and Guardiola are noteworthy early achievements for Arteta.
And Ceballos, who has been a regular in the Arsenal team, reckons Arteta's philosophy and ideas will take him to the top.
"I love his way of seeing the game and the things he likes about football," Ceballos told Sky Sports.

"The míster is very happy with me. He is very happy with my way of playing, above all when I have the ball, but also when I don't.

"I would like to play a bit further forward, of course, but I feel comfortable in this position because I like to touch the ball as much as possible.
"I think I have improved a lot. The truth is that today, I am a much more tactical and technical player than I was before. And whichever position the míster needs me in, I will try to give my best performance."
