Arsenal's first-team squad is "not good enough", so much so that even Pep Guardiola or Jurgen Klopp would struggle if they were in charge, according to former Liverpool captain Jamie Redknapp. Arsenal lost their first two games following the resumption of the Premier League to Manchester City and Brighton. The Gunners were 11th in the Premier League table ahead of their trip to Southampton on Thursday, with their Champions League qualification hopes in tatters.
"Their best player is out of contract next year, [Pierre-Emerick] Aubameyang, they've just signed David Luiz on a new contract which I think has probably baffled everybody.
"After the performance he produced against Man City he didn't deserve a contract, and even if you were going to do it at least give it a while.

"I think the way the club is being run on and off the field right now is not something that I associate with a club that I've got so much respect for, having watched the Arsenal for many years, playing against them in all the glory years, the Invincibles and previously.
"It's a club that's normally so well run and I fear for them right now, I really do.
"I think they're a complete mess and they don't deserve to be."
Manchester City boss Guardiola and Liverpool manager Klopp are widely regarded as two of the best in their field in world football.
But Redknapp says not even they would be able to get a tune out of the Arsenal squad.
He added: "The manager, whoever it is, you could give Pep Guardiola, Jurgen Klopp that group of players and they would struggle.
"They are where they are because they haven't got good enough players.
"They keep signing poor players defensively, how many great players have they signed at the back for a while?
"I can't think of too many, we came up with [Thomas] Vermaelen, [Laurent] Koscielny did okay but apart from that they're not good enough. They're not good enough."
