Dennis Bergkamp: Pundits debate his ability at Arsenal
Arsenal may need to sign "different players" in the summer transfer window, according to club legend Dennis Bergkamp. The Gunners have been enduring a turbulent season that has seen them slump to ninth place in the Premier League table with eight points separating them from the top four.
The north Londoners, though, showed signs of improvement under new manager Mikel Arteta before the season was halted on March 13 due to the coronavirus outbreak.
But Bergkamp believes his former club may still need to look into the summer transfer window and sign some new players that will help them improve their game.
The legendary forward suggested that Arteta may need to strengthen his midfield as his attack is currently lacking support.
Bergkamp told the Daily Mail: "I watched Arteta’s first game in charge at home [a 2-1 defeat to Chelsea].

"In that game it was clear to see what his intentions were with the team. The front four would chase the ball and put pressure on the opponents, but the midfield stayed behind. There was a big hole.
"I don’t know if you remember the AC Milan of Arrigo Sacchi, with Marco van Basten, Ruud Gullit and Frank Rijkaard.
"In training, they’d have ropes between them, so the distance between the players was always similar on the pitch.

Bergkamp is one of Arsenal's greatest ever players as he shone bright for the north Londoners during his scintillating 11-year stint at the club.
The Dutchman recorded a total of 109 goals and 71 assists in 402 matches across all competitions for the Gunners.
The 51-year-old played with some of the club's biggest legends, such as Thierry Henry, Ian Wright, Patrick Vieira, Tony Adams and many more.
Bergkamp still watches Arsenal, who are set to return to action next month after Premier League officials decided it is safe to restart the season on June 17.
