Liverpool may have edge in Kai Havertz transfer race after latest declaration
Liverpool are one of several clubs in the hunt to sign Kai Havertz this summer.
Liverpool's hopes of landing Kai Havertz have been boosted after the midfielder admitted he is already beginning to think about his next challenge. The Bayer Leverkusen man is being tracked by a host of European heavyweights with the Premier League leaders tipped as one potential destination.
Ultimately, until there is a concrete offer on the table, Havertz will not have a decision to make on his future for now at least.
Leverkusen understandably want a mammoth fee if they are to consider selling their most-prized asset.
The Bundesliga club are set to demand in excess of £90million for his services and now Havertz has again laid on record his desire to make the next step in his career.
"I'm ready to take a big step, and I like challenges. For me, this also includes abroad," Havertz told Bild.

"Leverkusen are a great club, I feel good. I have always said that. But of course I want to take the next step in my career at some point. That's my ambition.
"The coach is a very important person for me. It must be a good fit.
"You can see that with our coach, Peter Bosz. For me, the sporting direction of the club is also reflected in the choice of coach."
Havertz will evidently strongly consider the manager of each potential suitor and with that in mind, Liverpool could have the edge in the race for his signature.

Not only is Jurgen Klopp German, but he is also considered one of the best managers in the world right now.
He has a track record for improving players and helping them fulfil their world class potential.
There is every reason why Havertz may want to work with him, just like his international team-mate Timo Werner.
Liverpool are the current champions of the world after winning the FIFA Club World Cup and the Reds aren't finished there when it comes to eyeing more silverware.
The one doubt surrounding a potential move for Havertz is whether Liverpool are prepared to pay £90m for a player who may not get into their starting team.
Competition for places in Klopp's midfield is incredibly high but Adam Lallana will leave this summer meaning there is one place that will need filling.
Curtis Jones is also now in the mix though and Klopp could promote the youngster to the first team on a permanent basis.
Marko Grujic and Harry Wilson are also set to return from loan spells with Hertha Berlin and Bournemouth respectively.
