What Kylian Mbappe said about Liverpool in January as £250m FSG plan emerges
PSG superstar Kylian Mbappe previously admitted he was impressed by Liverpool - and now he has been linked with a £250million transfer to Anfield.
Kylian Mbappe will 'want to come to Liverpool' says Crouch
Liverpool have set tongues wagging by plotting a £250million swoop for Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe. Owners Fenway Sports Group will attempt to sign the World Cup winner if Real Madrid convince Sadio Mane to quit Anfield for the Bernabeu. But what has Mbappe publicly said about Jurgen Klopp’s team?
Liverpool were labelled a “machine” by the PSG superstar when he was asked about the Premier League leaders back in January.
"What Liverpool do in this moment is amazing," Mbappe told BBC Sport. "They're like a machine, they've found a rhythm and are like 'we play again, we play again'.
"They've lost zero games. When you watch you think everything's easy but that's not easy. The guys are focused, they play games every three days and they win, they win, they win.
"Now the problem is that everybody watches Liverpool, and everybody watches what we can do against them, so now they have to show they are strong again but it's a very good team with a very good manager."
KEY STORY: Liverpool’s potential line up if FSG seal blockbuster £250m Kylian Mbappe transfer
Mbappe is one of the most valuable players in world football after sealing a £165.7million switch from Monaco to PSG in 2017.
According to The Sun, Liverpool owners FSG would be willing to fork out £250m for his services if they lose Mane to Real Madrid for £150m.
He would be a brilliant replacement for the Senegalese forward but Klopp previously admitted that Liverpool had “absolutely no chance” of signing him.
“Buying this calibre of player is difficult,” he said last year. “I don't see any club at the moment who can buy Kylian Mbappe from PSG. I don't see any club, that is how it is. And we are involved in the clubs that cannot do it. It is as easy as that.
“OK, from a sporting point of view, there are not a lot of reasons to not sign him. What a player he is. But it is about the money of course. No chance. Absolutely no chance. Sorry for killing that story.”

A move to Real Madrid has also been mooted for Mbappe, with former PSG ace Jerome Rothen claiming a deal was in place to take the 21-year-old to the Bernabeu before the coronavirus pandemic gripped the globe.
“I know from sources that Mbappe almost signed for Real Madrid,” he told Radio Monte Carlo.
“With what is happening now, it is certain that Mbappe’s arrival at Real will be postponed.
“In no case will there be an extension of Mbappe’s contract with PSG.
“They will have an agreement between them in place because PSG agreed to let him go this summer. In my opinion, it’s just a question of time.”
