Tottenham: Harry Kane injury is ‘start of the end’ says expert
Manchester United should attempt to sign Harry Kane from Tottenham if they beat Spurs to Champions League qualification this season, says Robbie Savage. United currently sit fifth in the Premier League, which would currently qualify them for the Champions League due to Manchester City’s two-year European ban. Tottenham are one point back in sixth following Saturday’s loss away at Chelsea.
United were in the market for a striker in January but were only able to bring the experienced former Watford man Odion Ighalo in on a six-month loan.
So Savage, who came through the United academy in the early 1990s, thinks the Red Devils should make a raid on Spurs for their top scorer.
Kane has not featured for Tottenham since suffering a hamstring injury against Southampton on New Year’s Day.
Savage said on BBC Radio 5 Live: “If Spurs don’t get Champions League football and don’t win a trophy this season, I’m just putting it out there, if Manchester United thought ‘Do you know what? Let’s have a go for Harry Kane’, is that beyond the realms of a ridiculous statement from me?

“He’s only 18, we’ve got to remember that. He’s still not fully grown in his body, he’s not like Wayne Rooney at 18. He still has a young body and in a few years' time he’ll be more or less the complete No 9.
“He’ll still fill out more but it will take a couple of years. Give him time because it’ll be natural. He’s 18 now and he’ll still fill out more: his upper body, his legs.
“He’s now starting to get a man’s body but it will take a couple of years because you can’t do that too early.”
