Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas recently revealed the French giants are willing to sell the 23-year-old, who is also a target for United, if he wants to go.
As for a centre-half, the Blues could opt to re-sign Nathan Ake from Bournemouth.
Speaking during the January window, Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe downplayed any suggestions that Ake could leave.
“I’m not going to play games with Nathan,” Howe said. “We want him back, as fit as he can be, to make a difference.
