Manchester City have booked their spot in the Carabao Cup final despite suffering a disappointing 1-0 defeat to Manchester United on home turf. Pep Guardiola's side were wasteful in front of goal and had a Sergio Aguero strike ruled out for offside, but still had enough to securing a meeting with Aston Villa at Wembley on March 1.
City were overwhelming favourites to progress due to their 3-1 lead from the first leg but fell behind after Nemanja Matic’s fierce first-half volley.
Raheem Sterling and Aguero missed several chances to level things up, with City looking nervous as United pushed to force penalties.
However, but a second yellow card for Matic gave the reigning Carabao Cup champions breathing space and they successful saw out the rest of the game to triumph 3-2 on aggregate.
