Tottenham set for late Krzysztof Piatek transfer battle as German outfit enter race
Tottenham are said to be in negotiations to sign the AC Milan hitman.
Tottenham will face some late competition for the services of AC Milan hitman Krzysztof Piatek, it has been claimed. The north Londoners are currently on the lookout for a deputy striker following a serious hamstring injury to Harry Kane.
Spurs’ skipper will be on the sidelines for the next three months with a torn hamstring, which he picked up in their 1-0 loss to Southampton on New Years’ Day.
Kane’s untimely setback has prompted Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho to scour the market for a deputy for the England international.
And in his bid to find a temporary replacement for Spurs’ talismanic striker, The Special One is said to have turned his attention to signing Piatek on loan.
Piatek, who has found himself playing second fiddle to Zlatan Ibrahimovic in recent months, is reportedly keen on a move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Hertha Berlin are said to have entered the race to sign Krzysztof Piatek
However, it’s now claimed the Poland international is also attracting interest from Germany.
According to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin are keen on signing the forward and have tabled a bid to Milan.
That offer, however, is said to be well below the Italian’s valuation of the player - who moved to the San Siro from Genoa in January 2019 for a fee of £30million pounds.
Poland international Piatek enjoyed a stellar debut season in Milan, scoring 11 goals in 21 appearances.

This campaign, however, has been a below-par one for the 24-year-old - who has only managed four goals in 19 appearances for Stefano Piolo’s side.
Piatek attributes his goal return to a lack of opportunities since the return of Ibrahimovic, saying: “I look at myself in the mirror, look inside me to understand my mistakes.
“There was too much turmoil at the club, the players feel this.
“In the beginning, as a team, we didn’t create as many scoring opportunities and the striker lives off this.
“Now, we are improving and it’s only a matter of time before I go back to shooting again, I can do it.
“For the journalists in Italy, one day you’re the pope of football and another the worst player ever. But I accept it.
“None of these people put themselves in my shoes, the covers of the newspapers can’t get to me, anyway.”
Spurs will be back in action on Sunday afternoon, welcoming defending Premier League champions Manchester City to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
