Man Utd team news: Predicted 4-2-3-1 line up vs Liverpool – Marcus Rashford decision
Marcus Rashford is a major doubt to feature for Manchester United when the Red Devils face Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday (4.30pm).
Man Utd: Solskjaer discusses Marcus Rashford injury
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is waiting on the fitness of Marcus Rashford ahead of Manchester United’s clash with Liverpool this weekend. The 22-year-old was forced off with a back injury during the 1-0 victory over Wolves in midweek.
Rashford had been rested for the FA Cup third round replay but was brought on as a substitute in the second half, only to limp off 16 minutes later.
And now the frontman is a major doubt to feature against Liverpool on Sunday, with Solskjaer set to make a late decision over his star man’s fitness.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference on Friday, the United boss said: “I can't tell you now [whether he will play]”
“As I said with Harry [Maguire] a few weeks ago, of course we're going to give him the absolute amount of time to find out.
JUST IN: What Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said when asked about Bruno Fernandes to Man Utd transfer today
“We're going to do some more checks and treatment with him today. Yesterday of course was just a recovery day anyway and some treatment for him.
“I haven't seen him this morning, but I'm not going to hold my breath.
“I would probably think that he wouldn't be ready, but let's see. There's still 48 hours, more than that, so let's see.”
Rashford is United’s top scorer so far this season, bagging 22 goals for club and country so far in the current campaign.

Man Utd urged to complete second blockbuster transfer after signing Bruno Fernandes
Can Bruno Fernandes save Man Utd's season as he closes in on January transfer? Big debate
He will be a huge miss if unavailable against the Premier League leaders, although his absence would hand a Daniel James or Mason Greenwood a chance to deputise on the left flank.
Both youngster started in midweek, although it is expected that only one will feature from the off if Andreas Pereira returns to the line-up.
Juan Mata is almost certain to retain his spot on the right flank after his winner against Wolves and two assists last weekend against Norwich.
And Anthony Martial will continue to lead the line while Fred and Nemanja Matic remain Solskjaer’s only fit senior central midfielders.
Scott McTominay and Paul Pogba are both still on the treatment table, meaning the United hierarchy will be more desperate than ever to get a deal for Bruno Fernandes over the line.
Brandon Williams is expected to continue at left-back with Luke Shaw nursing a hamstring injury and Ashley Young closing in on a move to Inter Milan.
Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire will start in central defence ahead of Phil Jones while Axel Tuanzebe and Timothy Fosu-Mensah are injured and Marcos Rojo is unavailable for selection ahead of a potential transfer.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka is almost certain to start at right-back while David De Gea will return in goal at the expense of Sergio Romero.
Meanwhile, Ashley Young has departed to Inter Milan on a deal worth £1.2million after the Serie A club offered the 34-year-old a two-year deal.
“To be fair, Ashley is 35 in the summer and if he gets a two-year contract somewhere I think it's up to him to take that,” said Solskjaer.
“We weren't ready to offer that. He's been a good servant, captain and won trophies, but we've got players coming through.
“Ashley's head and mindset was on ‘so why not now?’.”
