Atletico Madrid are prepared to offload Thomas Lemar in January transfer window and have been shopping the player around Premier League clubs, with Wolves, Arsenal and Tottenham being linked with the attacker.
However, according to Goal, Wolves are now in pole position to sign the 24-year-old.
Wolves currently sit seventh in the Premier League but are only eight points off Chelsea who sit fourth in the table.
Nuno Espirito Santo wants to strengthen his attacking options and is now considering making a move for Lemar, who has yet to score this season for Atletico after 21 games.
Lemar has struggled to find his form at Atletico and the youngster has only managed to score three goals and provide six assists in 64 appearances for the La Liga club.

Atletico appear keen to cut their losses on the French international, who they signed for £52.7million (€60) from Monaco in 2018.
And the Spanish side are even willing to allow Lemar to leave on a loan deal in January, as long as it includes an option to buy him permanently for at least £34m (€40m).
Wolves were held to a 1-1 draw with Newcastle last Saturday and after the game Nuno addressed the club’s January transfer window plans.

One player who has already left Molineux is striker Patrick Cutrone.
The 22-year-old joined Wolves from AC Milan for £16m last summer but failed to make an impact during his six months with the club.
He only managed to score three goals in 24 appearances in all competitions.
As a result Nuno has decided to allow Cutrone to join Fiorentina on an 18-month loan deal that includes an option to make the move permanent.

The Serie A side will be hoping the player can rediscover his performances for Milan that saw him score 13 goals in 62 appearances for the Red and Blacks between 2017 and 2019.
However, Wolves would recoup the £16m they spent on Cutrone if Fiorentina decide to make the move a permanent one.
