Liverpool ace Trent Alexander-Arnold gives verdict on dig aimed at Gary Neville after win
Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold revealed his views on a dig aimed at Gary Neville after the Reds beat Sheffield United.
Liverpool: Alexander-Arnold on ‘famous’ Gary Neville saying
Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold put in a great performance as the Reds beat Sheffield United 2-1 at Anfield, which also marked the club going a full year without losing in the Premier League.
And during his post-match interview the 21-year-old spoke about Jamie Carragher's humorous dig at the former Manchester United defender, Gary Neville.
Carragher once claimed "no one wants to grow up to be a Gary Neville.”
Alexander-Arnold and fellow Reds full-back Andy Robertson have a competitive relationship when it comes to goals and assists, with each trying to beat the other.
And while speaking about how the full-back position has changed over recent years Alexander-Arnold couldn’t resist mentioning Neville.

"As a pair, we want to change the way the position was previously thought about,” he told BT Sport.
"There was the famous saying 'nobody wants to grow up to be a Gary Neville'.
"But we want to change that and bring a different way of thinking of a full-back."

Alexander-Arnold currently has 10 assists, as well as two goals this season, while Robertson has managed six assists and two goals so far this campaign.
And after yesterday’s game Alexander-Arnold insisted the healthy competition with his team-mate, helps to drive them both on.
"That is the way we are, we are competitive within ourselves," he said.
"We have a competition to see who can get the most assists and it pushes ourselves.”
But it was Robertson who added to his tally against the Blades, when he set up Mohamed Salah for a simple close-range finish after just four minutes.
In the second half it was Salah who then played in Sadio Mane to give the Reds a two goal lead.
However, Alexander-Arnold could have also increased his assist tally but Roberto Firmino failed to connect with his low-cross from point blank range in the second-half.
But the England international wasn’t too concerned about this and after the game praised Robertson’s contribution.
"At the end of the season, one gets the bragging rights and one doesn’t,” continued Alexander-Arnold.
“He can nick two or three assists in any given game.”
Liverpool now have a 13 point lead over second-placed Leicester City after their win, but Jurgen Klopp’s men also still have a game in hand.
However, the Reds will now turn their attention to the FA Cup, as they prepare to host Everton in their third round clash at Anfield on Sunday.
