Premier League top scorers: Aguero and Aubameyang close on Vardy, Mane overtakes Salah
Premier League action is coming thick and fast over the festive period, but which players are proving most prolific in the top flight this season?
Liverpool: Salah will win golden boot says Micah Richards
Leicester frontman Jamie Vardy is enjoying a stunning season, with the England international currently top of the Premier League goalscorers’ chart. The Foxes ace has scored 17 goals in 19 appearances but was left out of the squad for the 2-1 win over West Ham on Saturday.
Vardy was given the evening off due to the birth of his latest child, meaning this weekend provided a perfect opportunity for his rivals to gain ground in the race for the Golden Boot.
Harry Kane took full advantage with an ice-cool equaliser from the penalty spot against Norwich on Saturday, moving the Tottenham star on to 11 for the season.
Canaries talisman Teemu Pukki had a goal ruled out by VAR but Southampton ace Danny Ings raised his tally up to 12 league goals when his strike earned a share of the points at home to Crystal Palace.
And Pierre-Emmerick Aubameyang also closed the gap to Vardy when the Arsenal frontman opened the scoring against Chelsea earlier this afternoon.

Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial both found the back of the net against Burnley, moving the Manchester United duo into contention among the top goalscorers.
Martial has seven goals so far this term while Rashford is United’s leading scorer with 12, but manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer believes that is just the start for the England international.
“I don’t want to talk about the amount of goals,” Solskjaer said.
“As long as he keeps being positive and being direct and thinking about getting in front of the goal and getting chances, he’ll score goals.”

Solskjaer also thinks Rashford has the potential to be as good as United hero Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Norwegian added: “It’s very easy to compare the two of them, yes. Both with skills, body shape, attitude, attributes – everything.
“The boy has every chance in the world to become a top, top player. Let’s hope he continues like this.”
Elsewhere, Sadio Mane overtook Mohamed Salah with the only goal of the game against Wolves while Sergio Aguero got on the scoresheet against Sheffield United later in the evening – but how is the race for the Golden Boot shaping up?
