Normal stadium protocol then followed, with the stadium announcer warning fans that racism will not be tolerated.
"Racist behaviour from spectators is interfering with the game,” said the stadium announcer. A second warning was then sounded ten minutes later.

A third announcement then followed, again echoing that racism will not be tolerated.

A man was then arrested over allegations of racist abuse against Manchester United players in the derby against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on December 7.
