Arsenal: Mikel Arteta needs to demand respect says pundit
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has spoken of the influence that Arsene Wenger had on his decision to take the Gunners job on a three-and-a-half year deal. Wenger left Arsenal last year and was succeeded by Unai Emery, who was sacked by the club three weeks ago.
Arteta was assistant manager at Manchester City under Pep Guardiola but the Spaniard has joined the club that he spent five seasons in Arsenal.
Wenger, who signed the Spanish coach as a player, spent over 20 years with Arsenal and won multiple titles including Premier Leagues and FA Cups but the Frenchman finally left north London at the end of the 2017/18 season.
Arteta overtakes an Arsenal side who are struggling in the league and have only won once in their last nine games.

“I need to understand how they’re feeling, what they’re lacking. If I reach that point I can help them, they will trust me and follow me.
Arteta also said that he left City under fair circumstances, and he still maintains a good relationship with Pep Guardiola.
“The relationship between [Guardiola] and me is incredibly good. Obviously he was sad and the timing wasn’t the best for him but he understood,” he added.
“If I had admiration for him before, after working with him I can’t explain [how much I have now].
