Everton: Marco Silva's 'time is up' as manager says Telfer
Everton look as though they are ready to make an audacious attempt to lure Diego Simeone away from Atletico Madrid. The Toffees are hovering dangerously above the relegation zone ahead of tonight’s Merseyside Derby against Liverpool (8.15pm). It comes after another summer in which the club splashed the club on big signings such as Alex Iwobi, Moise Kean, Jean-Philippe Gbamin and Andre Gomes for under-fire Marco Silva.
Kean arrived at Goodison from Juventus with plenty of promise but he has so far struggled to make an impact while Iwobi has similarly failed to live up to expectation.
But the club as a whole have been underperforming, leading to increased unrest among Everton fans with many calling for a new man to come in and replace Silva.
The 42-year-old faces a difficult task to turn fortunes around at Goodison Park, with reports emerging the club are already looking at possible replacements.
David Moyes and Marcelo Gallardo have emerged as the early favourites to possibly come in and take over from Silva.

However, Sport Witness claim Everton would want to make snapping up Atletico boss Simeone a top priority.
Reports in Spain suggest the Argentine is coming under pressure himself at Atletico with the club dropping to sixth in the table.
Atletico have already dropped points against the likes of Alaves, Valladolid and Granada while they are yet to book their spot in the knockout stages of the Champions League.
Marco claim Atletico are growing increasingly frustrated with results and that there is a “divorce on the horizon”.

And that could prompt a move from Everton, who made enquiries about Simeone two years ago before Sam Allardyce was appointed.
Simeone would also attract attention from clubs all over Europe, but it has been suggested the 49-year-old was at least intrigued by the interest from the Toffees.
Whether or not that would still be the case with Everton where they are in the Premier League table remains to be seen.
Other options for Everton
Eddie Howe
The Bournemouth boss has impressed many at being able to establish the Cherries as a Premier League club.
There has been talk about him potentially being a future England manager while also being touted for a job with one of the Champions League contenders.
Everton could prove the most logistical next step with the Toffees giving him an opportunity to build his own squad.
Unai Emery
After losing his job at Arsenal, Emery may want to quickly rebuild his reputation in the Premier League.
He struggled to improve the Gunners after coming in as Arsene Wenger’s replacement, but he still has a strong pedigree largely from what he achieved with Sevilla.
